Newman Men's Soccer to Host Doane in Region IV Tournament First Round

Wichita, Kan.- The Newman University Jets men's soccer team will continue postseason play in the first round of the Region IV Soccer Tournament on Tuesday, November 12 against Doane College. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Wilkins Field on the campus of Newman University.

Doane has a season record of 13-7-1, and is the #5 seed in the tournament, while Newman, 14-4-2, is seeded #4.

First round matches are played at the home of the higher seed. Semifinal and final matches in the Region IV Tournament will be played at Park University's Julian Field in Parkville, Mo.

The winner of the Newman/Doane match will face #1 seed Park University on Friday, November 15 in the semifinals.

Semifinal winners will meet for the Region IV Tournament title on Saturday, November 16.

The 14 regional champions, along with two at-large invitees, each gain a berth in the 2002 NAIA National Tournament which will be played November 21-26 in Bowling Green, Ky.

The Jets women's team will also host a Region IV first round game on Tuesday. November 12. They will face Ottawa University. Kickoff for the women's game is set for 2:30 p.m.
