Newman Men's and Women's Soccer in Top 15 In National Soccer Poll
Wichita, Kan.- The
Newman University Jets men's soccer team moved up to #15 in the NAIA national
men's soccer rankings released today. The Jets were ranked #17 in last week's
poll.
In action this week, the Jets defeated Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Bartlesville,Okla.,
5-0 on the road on Tuesday, and lost on Sunday to Park University, Parkville,
Mo., 1-0 at home in a match for the conference regular season championship.
Newman is 11-3-1 on the year, 4-2 and in fourth place in the Midlands Collegiate
Athletic Conference.
The Jets remain at the number two spot in the Region IV rankings this week behind
Park, who climbed to #6 in the national NAIA poll.
Newman will host traditional power John Brown University, Siloam Springs, Ark.
on Friday, October 25 at Wilkins Field on the Newman campus. Kickoff is scheduled
for 3 p.m.
The Newman women's team moved into the national rankings this week, debuting
at #10 after knocking off then-#6 Park University on Sunday. The Jets women's
team is 12-1-1 on the season.
This is the first time that
both men's and women's soccer programs at Newman have been ranked in the national
top 20 in the same week.
